Small Moldy Jam Session with Train

Today I worked from home. This morning Travalon and I walked around ten, and we saw a white pickup truck driving on the train tracks. Then he went to run errands, but first he went to the train yard and got more photos of train graffiti.

I got an email that one of my little Belleek castles was going to arrive today, which was very strange because I already got it a couple of months ago. I don't know if that was some kind of weird scam or the system had a glitch, but I did not receive any castles in the mail. The only thing that arrived was a letter for Travalon, but inside it was a sympathy card for Ma Hat from the wood carving club she used to be active in. I wonder why they would send that to her son-in-law?

After work I took a walk, but there was no sign of a train. When I texted that to Travalon, he replied that in fact a train was coming.

It was a strange day for him at work because the man who runs the Boys and Girls Club in town, Michael Johnson, died unexpectedly this morning. He was only fifty - that's younger than I am!

This evening I went to a small Moldy Jam session for the second time, in the same group living place near the music club. I brought Mandy at the hostess's request, and that was handy because then I could play either melody or chords. The guy sitting next to me played the concertina (small button accordion), the ukulele, and the guitar. I loved the sound of the ukulele on "Pig Ankle Rag." In fact, I thought it was so cute how his ukulele is in a pouch on his guitar case.

Someone said it looked like a joey in a kangaroo pouch. There were eight of us, which was a really good number, because we each got to call several tunes. We had so much fun! And while we were playing, a train went by right outside the window. The last tune to call was mine, so I asked for someone to suggest a good song in memory of Michael Johnson, and someone suggested "Far Away," a waltz in B Minor. It was kind of a sad note to end on, and the others had not heard the news, but it felt like a good way to honor someone who has been so instrumental (ha! pun intended!) in the community. I need to go to more of these small jams. They are so much fun!
