Photos of the Protest, the Flowers, and the Birds

Today I worked on campus and went to a meeting about campus protests, then Seabird and I walked at lunch. Not too much to say about the day, but I do have lots of photos. First, photos that Travalon took of the signs at the protest that were different than my photos.

Here are photos from Patrick Marsh. First, a pied-billed grebe.

A loon poked its head above the water.

We saw lots of Bonaparte's gulls.

And some more loons.

There were a lot of red-breasted mergansers there.

These loons were taking a nap.

We also saw a lot of great blue herons.

More red-breasted mergansers.

Another shot of the loon who was swimming around, not napping.

More pied-billed grebes.

And more great blue herons.

(Yes, there are also little blue herons, but I've only seen those in Florida.) Next we went to Cherokee Marsh to see the pelicans by the nameless island.

Next, photos from Sunday. First there are the photos Travalon took of the pasque flowers.

Then we stopped by a small lake full of canvasbacks.

Then we went to Shovelers Sink and saw lots of red-breasted mergansers, pied-billed grebes, ring-necked ducks, and coots.

This evening when we got home from work, Travalon went down to the dock, and he saw northern shovelers and blue-winged teals.

I hope that you enjoyed these photos. Stay tuned tomorrow for AI depictions of my wondrous Year of the Dragon.
