Back to Work and Badger Basketball

Today I worked from home, and most of the day I spent checking my over four hundred emails. A lot of them were garbage, like from a place I once ordered something from for a faculty member and now they send me three emails a day. No emergencies that I could see. I walked around the neighborhood on my breaks and was unable to avoid our chatty neighbor, so I could only do half a Divine Mercy chaplet. (I finished it in the house.) She used to ask me if it was a bad time, and once I said yes it was, so I notice that now she no longer asks. She just lets her little dog go to run to me, which was fine today, but on rainy days the dog has gotten muddy prints on my clothes. She is a very cute dog, but I don't love muddy prints on light khakis or shorts.

After work I went to Adoration for the first time in weeks, and the parking lot is fully functional again. For months about half of it was taken up with equipment for putting the steeple back together, even after the steeple had been put back on the church. Then Travalon met me there, and we walked over to the Kohl Center to watch the Badger men's basketball team play the UCLA Bruins. (In college we jokingly called them the "ooklah" Bruins.) The Badgers pulled ahead quickly and stayed there, even through their usual scoring slump mid-game. They had some weird fouls called on them that really pissed off the crowd, and at first Blackwell wasn't scoring much since they were covering him, but other players really stepped up, and by the end he had a double-digit score as well. Nobody had a double-double this game. The best part was that we sat near the DJ, so I asked him if he took requests. He said sure, and when I asked for "Pon de Replay" by Rihanna and anything by Earth, Wind and Fire, he seemed relieved - maybe he thought I was going to request Lawrence Welk or something. He did play both "Pon de Replay" and "September," so that made my evening. Besides the Badgers winning, of course.
