Photos of Acquisitions and the Junkanoo Museum

Today I worked from home, and it was warm but rainy. I got a bit rained on during my afternoon walk, and when I opened the window in the bedroom, every time I went back that way, the intoxicating scent of petrichor made me linger for a moment. I wasted time this afternoon doing an expense report only to get a message that it was a duplicate expense, because my backup person had already created an expense report but hadn't marked the ticket as completed. Sigh. Then after work I had an online Union meeting; just before that I was having allergy issues like I have had since getting back, so I took an antihistamine knowing it would make me sleepy during the meeting, and sure enough, I could barely stay awake. I've been sleeping well in my own bed, but every morning I wake up disoriented, wondering where in Florida we are today before remembering that I'm back home in Madtown.

Here are some photos of things we acquired on this trip. First, the stuffies we got on our last full day of driving: Ying, Prayer Bear, and Roddie. Ying and Roddie are Warmies, full of lavender. Travalon has a red panda Warmie named Ming that he put in the microwave for longer than recommended, and it got a hole burned in it that I still need to fix. He did the same thing to my original axolotl Warmie, so that needs to be fixed too. He felt bad and bought me another one online, and that is the one stuffy I brought with me on the trip. She wasn't lonely long - look at all the buddies we got for her! So Ying is a replacement for Ming, and he and Roddie came from Boomland. Prayer Bear came from the shrine.

Both Prayer Bear and Bimini (which we got in Nassau) glow under blacklight!

Here's the backside of Bimini - she's just as bright facing away from you!

And most of the T-shirts I got glow under blacklight. This one is from Plains, Georgia.

And this one is from Nassau, also in the Bahamas. Only the picture glows on this one.

Speaking of Nassau, here are more photos from there. These are from the Junkanoo Museum. "Junkanoo" is a corruption of John Canoe, which is a misunderstanding of the native name of the man who led the rebellion against slave traders, Gyan Kwaw.

Here are more photos from Nassau.

For lunch we had guava duff!

And cracked conch with a special "bamboo" bun that was so good.

The market area right by the cruise ship port.

More photos from the glass-bottomed boat.

And here is some art they had on the ship.

I made Travalon take this photo from the ship before we left port in Florida because I'd never seen a red Tesla cybertruck before, only silver ones.

Here are some of our fellow travelers, other cruise ships that were nearby our first night at sea.

So I guess I lied about posting photos of Puerto Rico today. Maybe tomorrow if I'm not busy; otherwise, soon. There isn't much else to blog about when I work from home, but I may have a birthday party this weekend if the host isn't too sick and the weather isn't too bad. Gotta love winter birthdays.
