Home at Last

Our trip was excellent, but by yesterday I was longing to be home. We got up this morning and swam in our hotel pool (since we got in too late to do it last night), and then we hit the road and drove home, only stopping for lunch in Rockford at the Beef-A-roo. When I got home, all my plants were still alive except for two that were mostly dead before I left, although my plant-watering contraption malfunctioned and got water all over the floor. Some of the plants hooked up to it seemed overly soggy, and some seemed bone dry, but they all seemed to be in good health. Then I stopped into the office, and those plants seemed fine too, except for my free weed, which was totally desiccated but may recover anyway. It has before.

I forgot to mention that the day we drove through Mississippi, I had leftovers from both lunch and dinner the day before. Travalon had done research to find out what gas stations tend to have microwaves available, but they were all big chains, not like what we were seeing in the middle of nowhere. But we did stop at a Sunoco where the Sikh guy working there let us use an ancient microwave to heat up my leftovers, and he even had plates. I had a set of silverware they had given me with my leftovers from dinner at the restaurant in Meridian, and Travalon bought some fried chicken (and we both bought bananas) so we were all copacetic. I only had one fork, but Travalon used the spoon in the set of silverware to eat some of my leftovers too. I'm always amazed at how things work out for us on these trips, but maybe it's because we bring God on vacation with us, and maybe He appreciates that. It seems like a lot of people only think of Him when they need something, but we don't take vacations from Mass and the Rosary.

Here are some photos. This is a house here in town still decorated for Christmas.

And this is one we saw around St. Genevieve. There was a lovely one right in town too, but for some reason I didn't take a photo of that one.

This is a photo of a bunch of reliquaries they had at the church of St. Mary of the Barrens. For some reason it didn't load to my computer last night.

Here are some photos Travalon took of the inside of the Pyramid:

The bowling alley with the coral reef theme was part of the restaurant where we had breakfast.

Here are photos from the shrine:

Here are some photos from St. Genevieve:

Tomorrow we are going to a Badger basketball game, but otherwise my life should be fairly uneventful for the next week or so, while I'm working from home. I will plan to post more photos from Travalon's good camera that I couldn't post while we were on the cruise, so watch for those. Some of them are incredible.
