Giant Evil Bank

Today is a historical day: I closed my checking account at Giant Evil Bank. I have had this checking account since college (so, you know, about five years, give or take) so it is a BIG DEAL for me, not so much for Giant Evil Bank, since they decided to start charging me for having a checking account. When I opened the account, it was Little Local Bank, which was then bought out by Big Bad Bank, which was then bought out by Giant Evil Bank. Trust me, none of these changes has been for the better. So I started doing my banking at Local Credit Union, and just now at lunch break I went to close the bank account. You would think this would be simple, no? But Giant Evil Bank clearly treats its employees even worse than account holders with small balances, because not enough of them were working during lunch break. They are probably terribly understaffed and underpaid, and they were so eager to help once they could that I didn't have the heart to tell them the entire transaction would have been long finished at Local Credit Union by the time they could get around to helping me. I felt so bad for them. Part of me wanted to tell them to try to get jobs at Local Credit Union. Toque McToque used to work there and she said it was great. I'll bet they don't skimp on personnel and then leave the people on the front lines to take the brunt of the criticism from irate customers when they have no power to do anything about how many coworkers they have. The moral of the story: Giant Bank is EVIL.
