Hot Enough for Ya?

I am beginning to wonder why I live here. Back in December, when we talked to people live at the South Pole, they said it was warmer than here. Yesterday when I was talking to a coworker who just got back from India, he said it was slightly cooler there. So this place gets hotter than India and colder than Antarctica?? WHY do humans live here?
