October Wonderland

Today at our staff meeting we had a riddle: there's a boat full of people, but when you look again, there isn't a single person on it. Why not?

Answer: they're all married!

Here are some autumn colors around my neighborhood.

This is the tree with the delicious fruit:

Aren't they a beautiful color? And there's hardly anything more delicious!

I'm not sure why this butterfly bush is in bloom, but then the lilacs have been blooming all around town.

Yesterday after adoration I went to see the comet again. You can barely see it in this photo.

Today I walked on campus with my colleague, and there was a lot of beautiful fall foliage. I posted photos of most of it last year, so I only took one photo today, and it isn't that great.

I talked Rich into taking his good camera and trying to take a photo of the comet while it's still here after his Chesterton club meeting, but he said the photos didn't turn out even with a 15-second exposure. He did take this photo with his cell phone.

And I can't resist posting this photo that my aunt and uncle in Colorado took of Union Pacific Big Boy engine 1404. Travalon and I wanted to see it earlier this year when it came to Illinois, but we had a conflict that day. Isn't it awesome?

We get about two weeks of magic in October around here, just like we get two weeks of magic in May when everything is blooming. October doesn't smell as good, but it's just as pretty to look at.
