Photos from Travalon's Good Camera: St. Thomas

Today was my first day back in the office, and my sort-of boss explained that he never gave me a Christmas present because it was bonbons that wouldn't keep until I came back, and I just nodded, but I was thinking, what, you can't make more now? Seabird and I walked around inside our building, which is a thing you can do now before the students return, because it was so cold and windy outside. Winter is back, baby! Added to all this, I didn't feel well all day; I didn't sleep well last night, and then I woke up with a raging headache and some vague stomach pain, and I thought maybe it was all in my head because I didn't want to go into the office, but then I realized it was from my weight-loss drug. I took my first dose since the trip yesterday morning, and usually it takes a few days for the side effects to kick in, but I was so out of it that Travalon drove me to work instead of having me leave my car at the park and ride. I was going to go to the singalong at the music club and have him pick me up from there, but right at the end of the workday I threw up, so forget it - I just hung out in the office with easy access to a toilet to puke into until Travalon got done with work.

As promised, here are Travalon's photos of St. Thomas from his good camera. This was our view Christmas morning from the cruise ship, and we couldn't get over how beautiful it was.

This cruise ship in another port looked like it was up in the hills:

Here are photos from Magens Bay Beach, and you can see how wild the waves were.

Here are photos Travalon took from the bus as we crossed the mountains back to the port:

And these are photos he took as we were leaving port on the cruise ship:

The Carnival Venezia was following us for most of the trip:

And this is the cruise ship that looked, from the port, like it was embedded in the hills:

Then some frigate birds flew by:

Off to the west we could see St. John, another Virgin Island, and the sun setting behind it.

We saw some incredible sunsets on this trip! And I know you are all wondering which Christmas tree won the contest on the ship, but it will come as no surprise that it was the tree I would have voted for if I hadn't failed to see it. Another thing I failed to mention was that, this past Saturday, when we went out to brunch, Mamastep asked for her mocha with oat milk to be a "reasonable temperature," not too hot, and on her order slip it said: "Mocha, oat milk, kids temp." We thought that was hilarious. And today while I was walking with Seabird, she kept talking about how much weight I'd lost and how lucky I was that the doctor put me on the weight-loss drug, but I don't feel very lucky right now. I hate puking.
