I did not have a terribly exciting day today, working from home and walking on Governor's Island at lunchtime with Travalon, but this evening we took a short ride to see Christmas lights. There aren't that many up yet, but we did see a few decorated houses. I loved this one.
I forgot to mention that the woman sitting right ahead of me at the ukulele strum had an instrument with eight strings, so I had to ask if it was a mandolin, but it was a tenor ukulele with double strings. (The technical term for a double string is a course.) She asked if I played the mandolin, and I said I did, and she said she has always wanted to learn to play it herself. We were unable to continue the conversation further because just then the strum officially began.
Travalon colored this "heeland coo" at work.
He said it's a prelude to our Scottish evening tomorrow. I am trying to figure out what to wear - plaid but not too much plaid? A couple from the Shamrock Club have perfect Scottish his and hers outfits - I wonder if they'll be there tomorrow evening? They were at the No Kings protest too, but they weren't wearing plaid there, although they totally could have - anything goes at those protests. Except, obviously, red baseball caps. I'd like to wear argyle, but I don't really have anything other than my argyle beret. Tomorrow Travalon is going to watch the Wolves vs. Crystal Palace, then we have to go pick up our Greek pastries at the Orthodox church's bake sale (we preordered a ton of stuff), then we might go to Wauwatosa to the Celtic Christmas market, and then the Scottish ceilidh at night. A very European day! I am thinking I might find the perfect thing at the Celtic Christmas market, although it is generally more Irish than Scottish. I am not prepared to get my Scottish on at the moment.
