Today I worked from home, then I drove down to the restaurant that used to be called Liliana's but is now called St. Charles Station, yet it's still the same owner and a very similar menu. They still do themed menus, and tonight's theme was pumpkin. It was a four-course meal, but after the fabulous pumpkin curry soup and the surprisingly filling arugula salad with pumpkin, I barely touched the pumpkin risotto and the pumpkin cheesecake, so I will enjoy them at a later time. Travalon got a meal off the regular menu, but he did enjoy a piece of the cheesecake, which was drizzled with butterscotch. We also split a very decadent cocktail with coffee, cream, and pumpkin.
Tonight Tiffy was not free to chat, so I chatted with Rich a bit, and he was messing around with his camera settings. Behold Cartoon Rich!
He got to go up in the Capitol dome today, and he sent me a couple of pictures.
This photo is looking down from the dome to the floor below. I said I couldn't have handled that, and he said he couldn't actually see it - he held his phone out over the void and took the photo.
Here are some more seasonal photos from on campus.
These next three photos are on Lakeshore Path.
These next three photos are of the same tree. Notice how it's yellow on the side facing north and bright vermillion on the side facing south (with the Killer Building in the background).
Crazy, huh? There are all sorts of maples on campus - it's really beautiful right now, although some of them lost their leaves because of the drought, so they didn't have many left to change colors. Last year was better, but this year there are still enough colorful trees around to make October worth it.
