Today Travalon and I met Anna Banana II, Jilly Moose, and OK Cap for coffee, then we hit the road and drove to Milwaukee to meet Tiffy. We were going to go to McCoco for lunch as usual, but we found a parking space right in front of another restaurant called Fusion II or something like that, and it really did have some of everything on the menu. For example, Travalon had crawfish tails and tom yum soup. I had a chicken chipotle wrap and a side of refried beans, and Tiffy had a caprese panini. While we were eating lunch, a big group came in, and as soon as they sat down, they got sandwiches served to them. We were already puzzled enough by this, but then the guy who seemed to be giving them some sort of presentation whipped out a Big Boy doll. What?? As we were leaving, they were all walking down the sidewalk in the opposite direction.
Travalon, Tiffy, and I took a walk by the lakeshore, since it was such a gorgeous day. There was a lovely breeze, and tons of sailboats were out taking advantage of it. We saw lots of gulls, of course, and a big flock of cormorants flying by. Despite my sunscreen, I seem to have gotten a bit burned. It's like I'm so pale that I can't handle Outdoors at all. While we walked, I told Travalon and Tiffy how I'd read an article about children who remember past lives, and they included an email for a study if your kid remembered one. Of course I have no children (which is directly related to my memory), but my regular readers will remember that I do have a vivid memory of a past life, so I emailed them. I wasn't sure they would want to talk to someone over fifty whose past life was non-human, but to my surprise they did ask for my story. An interesting thing they noted is that a lot of the kids who remember past lives say, just like me, that it was because they asked to remember it. In my case, I insisted.
Here are photos Travalon took with his cell phone.
Travalon dropped Tiffy and me off at the Episcopalian church where these early music concerts often happen. Today the late afternoon sun made lovely patterns through the stained glass windows.
I was disappointed to learn that the harpsichord player couldn't make it today, but I said, "It's okay, because they have a theorbo player," and then I realized what an early music snob I must have sounded like. The group sang and played French and Italian Baroque pieces, starting with Corelli's "La Folia" variations and ending with Vivaldi's. It was hard to be inside on such a gorgeous day, so at intermission we went out into the church's garden. After the concert Travalon returned, and we walked to County Clare, the nearby Irish pub, and sat outside to eat dinner. I had blackened salmon, asparagus, and potatoes. That sounds reasonably healthy, but I got some chocolate at the early music concert, and Travalon and I split a doughnut and a croissant at coffee this morning, so when I put in my calories for the day, it wasn't pretty. Tomorrow may be even worse, because we are going to attempt to do Street Fest before another early music concert. Come back here tomorrow night to find out how that went.
