African Music Concert at Olbrich Gardens

Yesterday I didn't blog because there was nothing to say about my day - I worked from home, then Travalon was hanging out with an old buddy in another town, so I just watched old episodes of Colbert instead of going to the health club. Today I worked from home too, but it was cooler out, so I took a long walk along the road and saw lots of wildflowers. Check out the beautiful chicory.

And here is the chicory with red clover and Queen Anne's lace.

Travalon drove me to adoration, and he got a free mini ice cream cone from a cop on State Street for National Night Out. Then we drove to Olbrich Gardens to hear another concert. This one really was African music, and it was far more crowded than last week's concert. Travalon had to drop me off with our chairs and then find parking blocks away, and when he went up to the food cart, they were sold out of everything but lemongrass chicken and egg rolls and canned taro bubble tea. Not a problem because it was all delicious, although the bubble tea had most of my daily allowance for sugar. The music was very peppy, and lots of people were dancing to it. The people in the musical group danced too. I think the announcer said they were from Tanzania. It really made up for last week's disappointment.

As promised, here are some photos of pelicans that Travalon took on Sunday at the Sauk dam.

I can't tell if these are juvenile pelicans, or if they are missing the bump on their bills because it's no longer breeding season. They look grayer than a full-grown pelican, so I think they are juveniles. Were they born and bred right there in Sauk? Maybe someday we will see a baby pelican by the dam. I think we did once, but it was the one time Travalon forgot to bring his camera.
