Tiffy's Birthday Boat Ride

Sorry for the long silence, but I have been busy hanging out with Tiffy. It's so good to see her again! I'll see her again today, so stay tuned for more of our adventures. She came up on Saturday, and we hung out together on State Street all afternoon and then went to Fresco for her birthday dinner, where Richard Bonomo joined us. I had made reservations for 7:30, but I was sad that the fireworks would be at 8:30 and we would have to miss them. We had paid for a ticket to have one car enter, so I gave that to my neighbor I walk with, and she went with her kids. Tiffy pointed out that we could watch the fireworks from the roof of her sister's apartment building, so right after we were done with dinner, we ran over there (not even a block away) and got to watch the second half of the show. Weirdly, there was no grand finale.

Yesterday was really fun too. Tiffy, Travalon, and I had brunch at Crema, then we wanted to go to Olbrich Gardens but they opened at noon, so we had half an hour to wait. Tiffy suggested getting a golden milk at the Surya Cafe at Garver Mill, which is right nearby, so we went over there... but they are temporarily closed due to COVID. We went to Olbrich Park and flew our new kite for about half an hour, then we went to Olbrich Gardens and wandered all over. The weather was iffy, so Travalon suggested we drive to Lake Wisconsin. We went to Sauk and took a walk at the VFW Park, then we went to the dam but only saw gulls. We went to the park in Merrimac from which you can see the whole lake, then we stopped for a snack at the Varsity Bar and Grill, and Travalon had a drink in memory of his high school buddy who had died suddenly of a heart attack on Friday. We drove to Devil's Lake and took a pontoon boat cruise, and we were the only ones on the boat besides Captain Katy. She was very friendly and knowledgeable, and the boat was so quiet (you can only use electric motors on Devil's Lake) that it was almost like sailing. It didn't go very fast, but it went the perfect speed to admire the bluffs and the stunning sunset. Here are some pictures. (More to come - Boethius my computer is being weird again.)

We got a private ride over to the south side of Lake Wisconsin on the Merrimac Ferry, then we drove to Fitz's, but a woman came out to tell us they were closed. We kept striking out everywhere we went, until we got to El Charro, the Mexican restaurant right between Waunakee and Westport - they were officially closed, but they said come on in, they could still make us dinner. And it was so delicious! What a wonderful day! And hopefully we will have more fun adventures to report after today.
