Sometimes It Snows in April

This morning as I was getting ready for a meeting, I glanced outside and was horrified to see snow flying. But then I realized that today is the fifth anniversary of Prince's death, and he had a song called "Sometimes It Snows in April," so maybe the Purple One was just sending us a sign.

Speaking of musicians who died far too young, while I was hanging out with Tiffy on Saturday, Travalon was with his old high school buddy, and one of the things they did was go to Bunny Berigan's grave. He sent me photos.

Here is the grave marker for his parents.

Here is the grave of his brother.

This is the grave of his infant daughter who died.

And this is the grave of his younger daughter, who lived longer than a day.

This is the grave of his son-in-law, who was apparently the guardian of his legacy.

Strangely, his wife's grave is not in the family plot. Maybe she is buried with her own birth family.

This is in Fox Lake,WI just west of Beaver Dam, where Bunny- a 1930's swing-era jazz legend (trumpet player) who had a too short but great career spent his childhood.
He was actually born in Hilbert, WI near Manitowoc. After learning the trumpet and mastering it as a teenager,Bunny's first band played at the Orpheum Theater on State Street here in Madison regularly before he moved on to New York City and made it big!
