More Lake Wisconsin Adventures

I hope my readers had a blessed Palm Sunday. I forgot to mention that last Thursday the Rosary Ladies did actually pray a rosary via video chat, although Anna Banana II couldn't get into Google Hangouts, so she joined us via speaker phone. It went reasonably well, although there is a weird delay when several people are speaking at once, since the system was really meant for one person to speak at a time. Still, it worked!

Yesterday Rich came over for Mass, then he and Travalon made brunch, and then Travalon and I drove around Lake Wisconsin. Travalon had gotten a new map that shows some parks we had not noticed before, so after a short walk at the VFW Park in Sauk and a longer walk on the path to Paradise Island, we went to check out the parks. The first one was in Harmony Grove, right near some canals called "The Fingers" on the map, and it was just some playground equipment, but it was cool to see the canals. In the park, I saw a robin with some white on its head, but Travalon was in a shop buying a fishing license, so he didn't see it. The next one was on the Tipperary Peninsula, and it was also just some playground equipment, and another one further along the peninsula was basically some basketball courts, but the third one was the lovely one we are already familiar with, on the shore of the lake. There is a resort right across the street, and the people who own it happened to step outside, so we talked to them about reserving a little cottage for the weekend of our wedding anniversary. Barring any further travel restrictions due to the virus, we now have anniversary plans! Then we drove around the lake to the other side, where there was supposed to be another park on a small peninsula. We couldn't find the park, but the views from the peninsula were breathtaking, and we saw some lovely views as we drove behind Owl's Head Bluff and also at the start of our journey, just past Sunset Bay. We did stop at the park in Merrimac, which oddly enough is not on the map, and from there you can see just about the whole lake. It was such a gorgeous day. We saw pelicans and loons on the lake, and it occurred to me that the creature I heard laughing like a kookaburra in Horicon Marsh was probably a loon. Aren't birds amazing? I love having so many types around, even in our neighborhood. Today when I took my lunchtime walk with my neighbor, we saw cranes, gulls, and geese. And we definitely heard them too!
