Brand New Boat Issue

Yesterday Travalon and I were going to take a short boat ride before my Zoom prayer session with the Rosary Ladies, but our boat's motor steadfastly refused to start. Finally we had to give up, but this morning Travalon went down and put some more fuel stabilizer in the gas, and then he said it started right up with no issues. So this evening we went on a short boat ride before my weight loss virtual meeting, and the motor started right up. We went into the marsh but didn't get too far because it is so weedy and overgrown with lotuses, which weirdly do not have any blossoms. Usually this time of year they are thick with blossoms. (The photos I posted earlier were from some lotuses that were growing right by the shore, and I thought they bloomed earlier than normal because they were in such shallow water.) That seemed strange, but we shrugged and turned around. The motor was acting weird, the way it does when the propeller gets full of weeds, so Travalon did his usual trick of putting it in reverse for a few moments. That did dislodge a big ball of chopped-up weed parts, but then Travalon said, "The plug came out!" That was kind of scary - the boat could have quickly filled with water and sunk! He got it right back in, and we figured the quick reversal had shaken it out, although that had never happened before. So we headed toward the non-weedy lake... and then Travalon noticed the plug had popped out again! He stopped the motor, put it back in, restarted the motor, and it just popped out again. So he put it back in, and we had to row back home. Luckily we weren't too far from our dock at that point, so it only took about fifteen minutes of rowing to get back, and I had plenty of time before my weight loss meeting. But what is this new issue?? We have never heard of boat plugs spontaneously popping out because of the vibration of the motor! And in fact it had not happened to us before today. Tomorrow Travalon will go to the boat shops in town and see if they know what is going on. Maybe we just need a new plug; he got the boat used and says it is older than the hills, and the plug probably is too. When I told this story at Night Prayer, the Single B-Boy said that happened to his cousin's boat too, but they had a pump, so that is how they managed to get safely back to the dock. So apparently we are not alone in having boat plug issues!
